Some I can tell are definitely C&R (model only made before '68; some are definitely not (model not made before '68).But these I can't tell: Browning Baby .25ACP SN 452221S Browning Hi-Power 9mm SN 458Z89431 (Would this make more sense if the "Z" was a "2"? Beretta Model 70 .32ACP/7.65 SN 8933 S&W Model 41 .22LR SN A214865 Colt "Junior" .25ACP SN 48834 Any help with dates and/or sources for dates would be greatly appreciated--lawyer is not going to help and I don't have the time for an intercontinental trip to view the guns. I was able to determine that the Baby Browning was made in 1968--need confirmation from ATFE that it qualifies as C&R. The S&W isn't, nor is the Browning Hi-Power, so they go off to auction. Why does Beretta treat the manufacture date of their civilian pistols as some kind of secret? All I can get from the official and unofficial Beretta websites is "the only way to get the manufacture date of your Beretta 92FS is to call Beretta USA ..." Well, I don't WANT to wait on hold with a Maryland distributor, and I don't WANT to provide the serial numbers of my firearms over the phone.Jury still out on the Beretta--I'll see if somebody can sneak in and read its slide markings; betting that it IS C&R.This is the WORST way to get a gun collection, BTW. I was able to determine that the Baby Browning was made in 1968--need confirmation from ATFE that it qualifies as C&R. The S&W isn't, nor is the Browning Hi-Power, so they go off to auction.Beretta firearms produced in Italy carry a proof mark for the year of production.

All I have is a list of the models and their serial numbers; no date codes or other markings. You may need to remove the barrel to read the mark.On some older firearms, produced between 1925 to1954, the actual date was stamped instead of a code mark. They are not bad about giving you the info if you call them(so I've heard)so spend a few minutes on hold and find out for sure.Following the info on the sticky I found that my 92F is from 1988.
